Jayne Tyler and Greg Duke will be completing their tour of the 59 British racecourses at Sedgefield and have marked the occasion by sponsoring a race on Wednesday the 1st of April.
Greg is a producer for Sky Sports Racing but Jayne had never been racing before December 2011, where a trip to a cold and frosty Wetherby got her hooked!
In just over 14 years, in all kinds of weather, the pair have travelled the length and breadth of the country indulging in their passion and have visited many tracks more than once.
‘I’ve always loved horses and when Greg suggested we go racing for the first time I was intrigued,” said Jayne.
‘But from the moment I entered my first course I was blown away by the sights, sounds and excitement of being at the races. My interest grew and I started to pick up on racing terminology, building my knowledge of horses, jockeys, trainers and betting!
‘As each course was ticked off, I realised that I prefered jump racing and we started to think about where we could finish our journey. Living on the south coast in Brighton, every trip needs a lot of planning, and we concluded that Sedgefield would be the perfect finale.
‘As a museum curator I thought it would be a unique experience to stay in one of the workers’ cottages inside Beamish Museum as part of our trip - and to sponsor a race was the cherry on the top of what is sure to be a memorable day at the course.’
