The big race is on! The Durham National returns to Sedgefield this Sunday for one of the racecourse’s most popular and historic fixtures.
A highlight of Sedgefield’s racing calendar, this much-loved raceday brings together the excitement of top-class jump racing and the tradition of one of the course’s standout occasions. Whether you’re a seasoned racegoer or joining us for the first time, experience the atmosphere and excitement of The Durham National!
Following feedback from last year's event, we've made some changes to ensure this year's Durham National delivers the experience our racegoers expect.
The Durham National will once again be a dedicated raceday, with the focus firmly on competitive jumps racing, a great atmosphere and an enjoyable day out. It will no longer be combined with a Family Fun Day or Student Raceday, allowing us to put the spotlight back on one of the highlights of our racing calendar.
We appreciate the feedback we received and look forward to welcoming both returning and first-time racegoers for a fantastic Durham National.
Enjoy live music throughout the raceday as Logan Amos performs in between races. Bringing an extra touch of atmosphere to the day, Logan will be entertaining racegoers with live performances at intervals throughout the afternoon – the perfect soundtrack to enjoy alongside the racing action. With such positive feedback from Ladies Day, we are looking forward to welcoming Logan back!
Please note: Elena Larkin, who was originally scheduled to be performing will no longer be joining us, due to illness.
There’ll be plenty to discover away from the track too. We’ll be joined by The Green Howards Museum, who will be bringing along their pop-up shop, giving racegoers the chance to browse a selection of items and learn more about the museum.
You’ll also find stalls from the Injured Jockeys Fund and Grace & Dotty, so be sure to stop by, say hello and take a look at what they have to offer during your visit!
As the night draws in and the weather gets cooler, there’s no better excuse than an afternoon at the races. Whilst we can’t guarantee the weather, we can guarantee jumps fixtures this October packed full of thrills and excitement.
The atmosphere is electric, the finishes are thrilling, and it’s a real highlight of the jumps season in County Durham. Let yourself be captivated as the competition gallops down the finish line neck-to-neck whilst the crowd emerges in cheers. An unmissable atmosphere like no other that you should be a part of.
Children 17 and under go free* to the races when accompanied by an adult (*exclusions may apply). Children do not require a ticket in advance and a free ticket will be issued on the day.
