Getting to the Racecourse 

There are a multitude of ways to travel to Sedgefield Racecourse. When we asked Mike Parcej, a friend of the racecourse and passionate horse racing fan, here's what he had to say:

"An absolute joy to go racing at. The recommended bus start point is Durham, easily accessible again on the London to Edinburgh line and the Cross Country Newcastle to Plymouth line. The X12 is the bus of importance, running from Durham bus station, the Middlesbrough service. Departing half hourly weekdays and hourly on Sundays - an excellent Sunday service leaves approx 20 mins past the hour, arriving in Sedgefield 40 mins later. Last bus back at 6.45pm from the easily recognisable bus stop on the central square. The course is a lovely 30 minute walk southbound from the town centre, worth every step and a warm welcome awaits, at one of ARC's jewels. I am told that there are also buses from Darlington - the X21, but the bus stop is much further from the station, and it is not an easy walk if against the clock for a train, so Durham is the recommended interchange. By Road 
Sedgefield is conveniently placed five minutes from Junction 60 off the A1(M) and is clearly signposted from there. The Racecourse lies just outside the village of Sedgefield and is only twenty minutes from Teesside, Darlington and Durham city centre. 

By Air 
Durham, Tees Valley International Airport is situated between Teesside and Darlington. Helicopter landing facilities are available at the course by prior permission. 

By Train 
The nearest mainline stations to Sedgefield are situated in Darlington and Durham, both are approximately twenty minutes away by car or taxi. Darlington Train Station (DAR) only 11 miles from Sedgefield Racecourse.
