Racecourse Customer Tier guidance & advice
With a fast and ever-changing landscape of how racecourses are able to operate and who is able to attend, below is the guidance for all of our customers depending on the Tier the racecourse is located following any Government update.
LOCKDOWN/TIER 4
- Fixtures are able to take place behind closed doors
- Unfortunately, owners are not permitted to attend
- No spectators are able to attend, this includes Annual Members
I’ve already bought a ticket. What can I do?
All customers who have purchased tickets for any fixture that is cancelled due to a Tier change will receive a full, automatic refund. This will be in your account within 31 working days. Refunds will be processed automatically and there is no need to contact us directly.
I am an Annual Member. Can I still come racing?
Unfortunately, racecourses in Tier 4 are unable to allow Annual Members to attend upcoming fixtures. Members who live in either a Tier 2 or Tier 1 locations are able to register for a ticket to attend Arena Racing Company courses permitted to admit racegoers located in either Tier 1 or Tier 2.
Are owners still able to attend?
Further to a meeting of the Industry Covid-19 Group, from 1 January 2021, owners will no longer be able to attend fixtures in Tier 4 areas.
TIER 3
- Fixtures are able to take place behind closed doors with limited Owners permitted
- Unfortunately, no spectators are able to attend, this includes Annual Members
I’ve already bought a ticket. What can I do?
All customers who have purchased tickets for any fixture that is cancelled due to a Tier change will receive a full, automatic refund. This will be in your account within 31 working days. Refunds will be processed automatically and there is no need to contact us directly.
I am an Annual Member. Can I still come racing?
Unfortunately, racecourses in Tier 3 are unable to allow Annual Members to attend upcoming fixtures. Members who live in either a Tier 2 or Tier 1 locations are able to register for a ticket to attend Arena Racing Company courses permitted to admit racegoers (those located Tier 1 or Tier 2).
Are owners still able to attend?
Owners are still able to attend to watch their horses compete and we are able to offer four badges per runner. There is no time restriction on when owners can access or leave the racecourse.
Tier 3 Owners’ Protocol
- Owners are asked to only mix with their own households inside and outside.
- Please be aware that your temperature will be checked upon entry.
- You must also wear a face covering at all times whilst on the racecourse, except when eating or drinking
- Owners from Tier 4 are unable to attend.
- Please observe our Code Of Conduct.
In line with Government guidelines, no alcohol will be permitted but a range of other refreshments will be available as well as a complimentary light takeaway meal.
TIER 2
- Racecourses located in Tier 2 can welcome up to 2,000 racegoers or 50% capacity (whichever is lowest) to watch live horse racing
- Annual Members are able to be welcomed back but must register for their ticket in advance in order to monitor capacities
- Racegoers that live in either Tier 3 or Tier 4 postcodes are unable to attend. Customers travelling from Wales or Scotland should abide by their regional restrictions and if unable to travel at the time will have tickets cancelled and refunded.
- Owners can attend with the exception of those living in Tier 4 areas
How do I attend?
Customers must book tickets in advance and online to attend. No tickets will be available on the gate. Household mixing outdoors is subject to the Rule Of Six and people must remain with their own household when inside. Everyone attending a British racecourse will be required to wear a mask, except when eating or drinking. Alcohol can be served without a substantial meal but can only be consumed whilst seated. You’ll also be able to purchase a variety of food as well as soft drinks across the racecourse.
Bookmakers and the Tote will be on hand to take your bets.
Everyone attending must observe our Code Of Conduct.
What happens if I have to self-isolate or the fixture is impacted by Coronavirus?
Racegoers can Book With Confidence, safe in the knowledge that if the fixture is cancelled due to Coronavirus, impacted due to a Tier change or they are required to self-isolate they will receive a full refund for their ticket.
I am an Annual Member. Can I still come racing?
Yes, absolutely. We’d love to welcome back our Annual Members. You must register your attendance in advance in order for us to monitor capacities. You will receive an email with details of how to do this.
Are owners still able to attend?

- Owners from Tier’s 3 are permitted to attend for work purposes. Owners from Tier 4 are unable to attend.
- You must wear a face covering at all times whilst on the racecourse, except when eating or drinking
- Please observe our Code Of Conduct.
In line with Government guidelines, alcohol can be served without the need for a substantial meal. Owners will be provided with a complimentary meal in our Owners facility.
